Best of Seohyun Survey

Convinced that Seohyun’s adorably innocent look in Kissing You was her best? Or did she totally own the sexy and confident style needed for 2015’s You Think concept? It’s your chance to cast your vote! Seohyun’s international fansite, Seolely Juhyun, has opened the Best of Seohyun survey with questions about everything from MV looks to best qualities. All of the top responses for each question will be published in the birthday message book they are sending to Seohyun this year! It will be a sweet addition and an interesting look for Seohyun to get a glimpse into the mind of her loyal fans.

June28thSeo Birthday Q&A Compilation Part I

If you’re a Seomate on twitter, you’re likely acquainted with a lovely birthday project fansite by the name of June28thSeo. They’re well-known for including Seohyun’s international fans in their celebrations. Every year I anticipate what thoughtful project they will come up with and this year was no different. For their 2015 project, they were able to reach out to Seohyun herself and quizzed the fans before revealing answers to some fun and interesting questions and I’ve compiled them here! She was also prompted to write some answers in the form of letters and I will be posting those separately soon. Enjoy!

The Grand Reveal! Ginger Hyun

The wait is FINALLY OVER. Seohyun has appeared in public with the new hair color she’s been hiding from us so carefully. And baby is a red head! We were finally able to see it in its full glory, in natural sunlight. Can we safely assume this is the final comeback look? Who knows. She may have gone as far as getting extensions dyed the same color. But I’d be satisfied with this look as the final product 🙂

And of course our lovely friends at GGU3 uploaded an adorable fancam of my favorite airport duo acting a fool in the terminal. Precious, yes.

A certain ginger someone was also spotted in Hyo’s most recent instagram post on the set of their new MV/Photobook/Whatever. You know, the project that SM rented out an ENTIRE FREAKING ISLAND FOR. Show yourself, woman! Post some glory of your own!

So while this new color is a bit jarring, TO ME, I think it’s pretty and will grow on me some more soon. Thoughts?

Seohyun attends a Wedding! Is that a wig?

Seohyun was spotted along with Sooyoung, Yoona and Yuri at a wedding yesterday, most likely that of an SM staff member. Members of EXO, Super Junior and TVXQ can be seen in the rest of the photos. Aside from an actual photo of Blonde!Yoona giving us a shock, what’s up with Seohyun back as a brunette?

See the thing is… you don’t tease us with a picture you took in a dance practice room of your hair looking lighter than ever and then continue to evade us on social media for what feels like an eternity, and THEN show up in public as if nothing ever happened.

You know that’s going to make us suspicious, don’t you? Seomates are on edge and wondering whether the woman would go so far as to wear a wig to throw us off. She saw Yoona’s reveal efforts get thwarted by her manager after her birthday fanmeeting. Something tells me she’d be smart enough to know photos of this wedding would get leaked, no matter how tight security was.

Seomates will be left in the dark until we know for sure, when SNSD makes their official comeback (God knows when). Until then, let’s just enjoy the tiny hints we’ll get to see of our idol until then. She actually serenaded the newlywed couple with Ariana Grande’s “My Everything”. (The woman sure loves her some Ari.) Let’s pray someone uploads the full version soon! The tease is almost too cruel!

Well hasn’t Seohyun blossomed into a little social butterfly? We have the regulars getting mentioned, her beloved Min from Miss A and Kara’s Nicole. Key is making a surprise appearance, but aside from being her labelmate, we know he is a same-aged friend regardless of their past awkwardness. Minho’s become a regular in the friend circle since it was mentioned that they are able to confide in each other. Ms. Ock Juhyun “who Seohyun likes the most!!” was mentioned as well. (Nope. Not jealous of her. NOT. ONE. BIT.) But I was surprised to see members of Infinite appear in Seohyun’s social circle yet again. I was aware that Sungjong was a hoobae of Seohyun’s, but wasn’t sure if they still reached out to one another. And Hoya….. Hoya, Hoya Hoya. I’m just biased 😛

[Announcement] Forever Seomate no longer posting updates

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post to you all today, but it is something I have been thinking for a good while and have had time to think through. I have decided to stop posting news , picture and video updates on Seohyun and the other 8.

When I started this blog about a year and a half ago, not only was it the only English-language blog strictly for Seomates out in cyberspace, but I had intended it to be a place where I can spazz and rant to my heart’s desire. My updates weren’t the most thorough, but there was plenty of spazzing going on for a girl that I felt was overlooked by others in the fandom. I sought not only to express my feelings, but to find a nice community of spazzers.

While I still love this girl dearly and am still a crazy SONE, I’ve found it tedious to post updates. Not only are there other blogs that do a better job of it, it really is too much to take on by myself. I found myself missing important updates and lacking the motivation to post the hundreds of photos that are released of Seohyun and SNSD on a daily basis. I felt it was better to leave this type of thing to people who enjoy doing it and are much faster than I am.

So what does this all mean? This does not mean I am no longer a Seomate. This does not mean I’m shutting down the blog. I am keeping it open to post the occasional opinion post and as a place to spazz about any new developments or old treasures that I may find. I might keep compiling translations of interviews that come out as well. But, I will not be posting current news and photos on a daily basis. My blog is pretty redundant considering there are more sources out there now for people who need every current news item.

That being said, there may be folks out there either that are following this wordpress or my twitter that do actually get their updates from me. If you’re one of those people, I’d kindly like to direct you to some awesome sources for Seomate news.

• YongSeo fans: Sweet Potato Days does an awesome job on staying up to date on everything Seohyun does and the girls as a group. And if you’re not a YS fan, but don’t mind seeing CNBlue and couple items in the mix, then I’d still recommend it as a great way to stay updated.
• Strictly Seomates: My-Seobaby is an Indonesian fanblog for Seomates that popped up a little after I started my own blog. They have been awesome at updating all pictures, video clips and news almost as soon as they are released. When they do post translations, they are not in English, so I’d have to say that’s the only draw back if you’re not Indonesian.
• Seohyun DC Gallery is a Korean forum for Seohyun and usually has the most current updates. However, the drawbacks would be that you have to know which links to click on so you don’t waste your time going through posts that you won’t understand anyway. With a browser that translates for you, it’s pretty simple. They do, however, get hit with malware quite often. But it is the site that Seohyun herself said she reads through 🙂
• And of course, there are plenty of twitter accounts dedicated to Seohyun updates, and threads for her at both Soompi and Soshified that you should definitely check out 🙂

I will be keeping my archives of course but have not decided whether I will remove the menu items at the top of my blog. I have also not decided whether to keep the twitter account active or not since I will be posting less often.

I’d like to thank everyone for their support and of course SNSD, for being such a famous girl group that they’ve burned me out with all their updates! 😛 I look forward to posting up more spazzy posts! Thank you.

HC: What do sweet potatoes mean to Seohyun?
SEOHYUN: I’m a bit sick of it now, so a food I’m trying to distance myself from. ㅋㅋ

HC: What does pianist mean for Seohyun?
SH: I liked playing piano so much since I was little, that it’s a dream that I worked hard preparing for at one point.

HC: What does diplomat mean to Seohyun?
SH: A term that always makes my heart flutter. I want to live a life spreading knowledge of Korea, like a diplomat.

HC: What does ‘big player (I guess like spender?)’ mean to Seohyun?
SH: I guess you could say my mom’s warm generosity was passed down to me. ㅋㅋ

HC: What does first love mean to Seohyun?
SH: Something that’s like a raindrop? It’s really pretty, but is something that will disappear if you try to mess with it in a haste. Something that everyone is clumsy with.

HC: Who is a junior girl (or boy) group that you’ve been paying close attention to the most lately?
SH: There are a lot of talented juniors these days. Of them, the groups that left the strongest impressions with their performances and concepts on stage are VIXX and BAP.

HC: Spring is passing already, and the summer is nearing. Is there anything you want to do the most this summer?
SH: The time I can spend with friends is minimal, so I want to go on a vacation with close friends and relax. When I’m with friends, I like sharing an atmosphere different from myself, and values. More than anything, I’m happy just being with friends who like the person Seo Juhyun.

SM Best 10 in Seohyun’s Opinion— Of SM artists, someone I think would have done really well as ___.

• Politician – Siwon oppa. Of SM family, he is a politician prospect that comes to mind. It’s a nickname that stuck because he’s gentle and formal wear suits him well.
• Cook – Changmin oppa. His personality is most homely, and I think he likes cooking as well. I saw how he had doenjang jjigae as his profile photo, but I think he made it a lot better than me.
• Drama Writer – Sooyoung unnie. She always imagines fun things a lot, and she leads conversations that form a consensus. She reads a lot of books too, so I think she would be really good at it.
• Race Car Driver – BoA unnie? She is so charismatic and cool on stage, but normally, she’s cute. She also does things without doubts, and plays hard.
• Baseball Pitcher – Hyoyeon unnie. She said her dad was a catcher. ㅋㅋ More than that, she actually has a strong competitive spirit, and is quick/athletic, so I think she would be good.
• Fashion Designer – SHINee’s Key. He normally has a lot of interest in Fashion, and I think he’s really good at expressing himself through clothes. It was really difficult picking out his birthday present.
• Fund Manager – Tiffany unnie. She’s a real housekeeper. She writes in her account ledger meticulously, calculates things accurately. I need to model myself after her.
• School Head Instructor – Yunho oppa. He has leadership. When he’s funny, he’s really runny, but he gives lots of advice or tells juniors good things.
• National Secret Agent – SHINee’s Minho. As a close friend, I discuss worries with him every now and then, but he has a loyal personality, so he’s trustworthy.
• CNN War Correspondent – A f(x) member? ㅋㅋ They move quickly, have their own principles, and have a bold side.

United Nations of Seomates: Seohyun’s 23rd Birthday Project

Hello, Seomates! Just wanted to do a quick post on a special birthday project that I am personally involved in. I would like to give it a bit of a spotlight as the project deadline gets near.

Our project consists of two special parts. A donation project to UNICEF (details here) and a message book with a unique theme.

We’ll be collecting postcards with handwritten messages from fans all over the world and putting them together into a book for Seohyun. Yeah, it has been done before. But I feel what gives our project it’s own spin is the “passport” we will include for each Seomate. It’ll be complete with picture and facts about each fan’s favorite SNSD song and why they love Seohyun, among other tidbits. Because I’m sure Seohyun is curious to know a bit more about why her fans are attracted to her and the group as a whole. I think it’ll be interesting for her to read.

We’re down to a little over 2 weeks left before our deadline, and haven’t received as many entries as we’d hoped for. So I ask my readers if they would please send us a postcard along with passport information so Seohyun can feel the international love!

POSTCARD: Seohyun truly appreciates handwritten messages. Write a handwritten message to Seohyun on a postcard from your country or city. Since you have limited space, try to make your message count and write something meaningful for Seohyun. .
